Meaningful conversations create the threads in the fabric of community.

Petaluma Conversations is a face-to-face dialogue series created to strengthen those threads by bringing neighbors together for real conversation—not persuasion, not debate, not talking points.

The series began as a way to ease tension around a public art project and quickly revealed a deeper need: a place where people could slow down, listen, and speak honestly with others they might not otherwise meet. Since then, it has grown into an ongoing community practice, exploring topics such as trust, media, polarization, loneliness, and belonging.

Each gathering is intentionally simple. Participants speak from lived experience, listen with care, and stay curious—even when viewpoints differ. No one is there to win an argument or convince anyone. The purpose is to rebuild the social ties that allow a community to function, adapt, and feel humane.

Petaluma Conversations is open to anyone who values connection and believes that understanding starts with showing up and listening. If you’re curious, thoughtful, uncertain, or simply want to be in better conversation with your neighbors, you’re already qualified.

A new round of Petaluma Conversations will meet every Tuesday at 5:30pm throughout February at the Petaluma Public Library. It’s an open invitation to talk, connect, and strengthen the fabric of local life.
