IMPORTANT: Petaluma is changing the way we elect our officials

For the first time in the history of Petaluma we are changing the way we elect our city council members and our mayor.  The impact of this is huge, the importance of which cannot be underestimated.
We are moving to district elections. This means that there will probably be somewhere between 5 to 7 geographic districts, each of which will elect a council member.  
I cannot stress the importance of introducing ranked choice voting (RCV) at the same time as introducing district elections.  RCV ensures that the winner of an election actually has the majority of voter support.  Our current, first-past-the-post does not do so at all.
There are a number of upcoming city council meetings that are designed for public participation and comment, the first one is on Monday November 15th, 6:30pm
