We are building a community kitchen and healing clinic at the Wood St Encampment in Oakland under the 880 Freeway. The structures are being built out of pallets insulated with plastic from the site and covered in an earthen cob plaster. We are offering a stipend to residents of the encampment to help with the build. We are envisioning building a small village of 10-15 little “Palletable Cobins” there at the camp. The new structures will serve as demonstration models to inspire other low cost housing projects. We are building these spaces to help our unhoused friends feel safer, and healthier especially given the current circumstances.
This Saturday we are starting to build the Healing Clinic and are open to volunteers to come help with the build. For more information, you can call me at 707-320-3609
We have created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the material and labor costs to build these structures.
