Rivertown Poets Reading and Open Mic

Robert Eugene Rubino was born in New York City in 1948. He served in the Air Force,
and graduated with a journalism degree from San Francisco State University in 1979. He
spent thirty-four years working on newspapers, mostly as a copy editor, including twentyeight
years at The Press Democrat in Santa Rosa. For two decades, he wrote sports-related
essays that appeared in the paper every Sunday. Since retiring from daily journalism in 2013,
Robert has published poetry and prose in various online and print literary journals, including
Hippocampus, The Esthetic Apostle, The Write Launch, Haunted Waters Press, Forbidden
Peak Press, Cagibi, Cathexis Northwest Press, High Shelf Press, Raw Art Review,
MacQueen’s Quinterly and Gravitas, and in the anthologies Poetic Bond IX, Earth Hymn and
Poems from the Lockdown. He hopes to publish his first book of poetry. For the past year,
before the coronavirus hit, he was a regular at Sacred Grounds Cafe open mic in San
Francisco. He’s still a regular at online readings. He lives in Palo Alto.
