What is Flamenco?If you have ever been interested in Flamenco, Gypsies (Roma) and Spain, then this Workshop is for you! I welcome you to come and learn more about the music, movement, and culture of FLAMENCO – a beautiful, living, folk art that originated with the Gypsies of Southern Spain, Andalusia. Movement in this Class will be at the most Introductory Level. This is not a “dance class” per se, but rather, an exploration of the movements that one would experience if one was to watch a Flamenco performance or should they decide to continue with the dance. This is a cultural experience. In my classes we’ll dissect the Art itself, focusing on compas (rhythm), hand clapping (palmas), footwork (taconeo), arm and hand work (braceo y manos), singing (cante), musical understanding, history and mostly… fun! The Workshop will culminate with a Field trip to a Flamenco Show. Vamonos! Let’s Go!
