Come join us January 11 as we kick off 2018 with a fun night of literary storytelling with featured readers Skye Blaine, Jasper Henderson and Alex Simand (and YOU on the open mic)!
+ Skye Blaine writes memoir, fiction, poetry, and blogs, developing themes of aging, coming of age, disability, and awakening. She received an MFA in Creative Writing from Antioch University in 2003. Her novel, Unleashed, just came out. Bound to Love: a memoir of grit and gratitude, was published in 2015, and has won three prizes. She is included in seven anthologies, and in national magazines: “Yes” and “Catalyst.” She teaches creative writing to older adults as Santa Rosa Junior College Adjunct Faculty.
+ Jasper Henderson is a writer and teacher from the Mendocino Coast. His work has appeared or is forthcoming in Joyland, Juked, 7×7, Permasummer, Your Impossible Voice, and an anthology of California writing, Golden State 2017. As a poet-teacher, he works with over four hundred students every year, from third-graders to high school seniors. He is currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Writing at Antioch University L.A. His cat is named Sybil, after the sibilant, favorite sound of cats across the galaxy.
+ Alex Simand does not believe in the left brain / right brain dichotomy. He lives and works in San Francisco, having arrived via the two socialist countries of Canada and Russia before that. His short story, Election Cycle, was a winner of the 2017 Best Small Fictions award.
