The San Francisco Model Yacht Club, our special guest for this final Boating Club Demo Day @ The Floathouse, was founded in 1898 to encourage building and sailing model yachts. Members will bring their RC sailboats (15+ in all!) to the Petaluma River, and, operating them from The Floathouse docks, will hold an informal regatta in the turning basin for your viewing pleasure. The boats they’ve opted to bring to our beautiful basin range from 36″ to 70″ in length, representing 7 different design classes. Set up begins around 11 am, and we’ve heard that some of the boats will be available for you to try! Come find out more about this entertaining and educational hobby, and cheer for your favorite boat!

NOTE: This is a public service program offered by The Floathouse Petaluma, a (people-powered) boat rental center. The Floathouse is situated on floating docks on the river right in the downtown turning basin. Enter via the stairs and ramp between Baskin Robbins and TAPS in River Plaza, 20 E. Washington Street, Petaluma.

All donations to The Floathouse are tax deductible. This dock-based floating facility, opened in October, 2022, was built by the community for the community to provide affordable year-round access to the Petaluma River in people-powered boats.
