Come to The Floathouse to see (and try operating) huge model ships, four and five feet long, built by the members of Redwood Empire Model Shipwrights Club.
Redwood Empire Model Shipwrights (est. 1997) is all about having fun building and operating model boats. They meet monthly to share projects, tips, techniques and suggestions to build “models we can be proud of”. Whether battleships or tugboats, sailboats or passenger ships, the REMS’ boats represent hours of fun and sometimes meticulous research, and definitely craftsmanship.
Members of this local boating club will be at The Floathouse to show the public some of the amazing work they’ve done, and to let folks try the RC boats themselves! Everything from military to working vessels, fishing vessels and pleasure craft will be there for you to see up close, and try your hand at operating in the downtown Petaluma turning basin. Free and open to the public.
