Postcarding at Aqus

Thank you, dearest Podsters…

…for your many efforts to defend this democracy. This week, the full House will vote on two Articles of Impeachment and send them to the Senate. It is easy to despair with the way many Senators are acting and what McConnell and his lackeys are saying, but we won’t know the outcome until the game is played.  Many a slip ‘twixt cup and lip, isn’t that how the saying goes? So – let’s finish strong with determination in our hearts and gratitude to our MOC’s – Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstien, Kamala Harris, Jared Huffman – who are fighting the good fight. Let’s send them light, send them strength, send them support, send them many cards of thanks.

We had a fabulous Wrap-up of 2019 at Aqus on the evening of  Dec 10th, writing postcards to voters in Texas and celebrating our third December together. We witnessed a fabulous presentation about the Suffragists in the US ~ and Petaluma! ~ that led to the passage of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote.Thank you, Paula Freund and Sonoma County 2020 Women’s Suffrage Project!  Next year is the Centennial of this significant act; might that have some influence on the election? We can not just hope; we have to make it happen.

Thousands of  gracias to Aqus for their delightful food and supportive spirit; we couldn’t have made it this far without them. And thousands more to you all for such a delightful evening – and a strong and determined year. And a shout-out to the folks who show up for Wednesday afternoons, too! Now to take a break, soak our hands in Epsom salts, treat them to a massage or two and ourselves to some TLC.

So, do rest up, my pretties, over our short break; enjoy these holidays, these long nights and cheerful lights. For when we return in 2020, we will have our work cut out for us. Not just the Democratic primaries and the Presidential campaign to nab our attention, but 35 seats in the Senate …. and ALL 435 seats in the House are up for election. Whew!

Okay, don’t faint, we won’t write for all of them, but we will write for as many as we can. And especially to ditch Mitch McConnell.

And before I go, another thousand and one thank-yous to Alice Nadler, Julie Wilder-Sherman, Caren Montante, Nancy Schwartz and Sue Sullivan for being such excellent Postcard Pod Wranglers –  getting the packets together, assisting writers, mailing the finished cards, organizing the pens and tables and doing all the necessary things.  Truly this wouldn’t be the vibrant active community that it is without them.

So with deep bows of gratitude all around, we hope to catch you all on the flip side of the Winter Solstice, when light begins to return!
Happy All the Holidays!
